About The Forgotten Table
Born from experience. Built to equip the Church.
The Forgotten Table was founded by Toft and Steffan, both former inmates.
We know imprisonment from personal experience. We also know what it means to encounter Jesus and begin a new life with a new direction.
Our stories are different, but both of us experienced that prison did not have to be the final chapter.
That experience became part of the foundation for The Forgotten Table.
We believe people in prison, their families, and those returning to society should not be forgotten. And we believe the local church has an important role to play.
That is why The Forgotten Table exists.
We equip churches
We are not building one large prison ministry.
We help churches start and develop their own healthy and sustainable local prison ministry.
Through practical tools, books, workshops, training and guidance, we help churches understand where to begin and how to support people before, during and after imprisonment.
Our goal is simple:
To make prison ministry possible for every church — regardless of size, experience or location.
Our Team
The Forgotten Table is carried by a volunteer team of Christians from different generations and backgrounds.
Our team includes pastors and people who have walked with Jesus for many years, alongside people with personal and practical experience of imprisonment, ministry and life after prison.
What brings us together is one shared passion:
Helping local churches become prepared to serve people affected by imprisonment with faith, wisdom and long-term commitment.
We are different ages.
We have different stories.
We bring different experiences.
But we share the same table.
A Seat for Everyone
The Forgotten Table is built on the belief that no person should be defined only by the worst chapter of their life.
Jesus sees the person.
And the Church is called to see them too.

Our Theological Foundation
Rooted in Scripture. Centred on Christ.
The Forgotten Table stands on the historic Christian faith and the authority of the Word of God.
We believe in one God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died for our sins, rose again, and offers forgiveness, reconciliation and new life to everyone who comes to Him in faith.
We believe that every human being is created in the image of God and therefore carries God-given dignity and value — regardless of their past, their failures or their circumstances.
We believe that sin is real, but we also believe that no life is beyond the transforming grace of Jesus Christ.
We believe the local church is the Body of Christ and is called to make disciples, care for people, restore relationships and bring the hope of the Gospel into places where people are easily forgotten.
For this reason, we believe prison ministry belongs naturally within the mission and pastoral life of the local church.
Grace, truth and a new beginning
Our ministry is shaped by both grace and truth.
Grace does not ignore responsibility.
Truth does not remove compassion.
Through Jesus, forgiveness and transformation can stand together.
We believe people can encounter Christ, take responsibility for their lives and begin to walk in a new direction.
The Church goes towards the forgotten
Jesus said:
“I was in prison, and you came to me.” — Matthew 25:36
The Forgotten Table exists to help local churches respond to that calling faithfully, wisely and with compassion.
We equip churches to walk alongside people affected by imprisonment — before, during and after prison — and to prepare a place where people can encounter Christ, grow as disciples and find genuine Christian community.
Built on the Word of God.
Centred on Jesus Christ.
